The car was bought by Jim in 2003, it had previuosly been restored (in the loosest possible sense). It was in a very poorly state and in need of some real TLC, hard work and elbow grease. The is the lesser popular Coupe, rather than the commonly seen fast back.
The car was orginally a 6 pot base model and had a 351 Cleveland fitted. The engine had been mildly tuned and running like a dream, last year, in my wisdom i decided i wanted to put a new cam in the old girl. However as you will learn or have already learn't now like me this is NEVER a simple cam change job!
We decided to pull the motor and have a little freshen up which has developed into a complete NEW engine. We decided to check the oil pump and found that it was well on its way to becoming a paperweight - the pressure was still good although the pump was very badly damaged, it was then apparent that maybe we needed to do a little more investaigation and found that the bearings where a very shiny gold colour.... not good. As we removed the pistons the rings fell off of 6 of the 8 pistons, after removing the pistons we found the bore's to be oval!.. This was all we needed to decide that it needed a little more than just a cam, and so the parts hunting began....
The engine is in and running well.... Click on the link to have a listen for yourself..... Its alive!
