As you can see this is our work in
progress race car, although we do hope to on the track real soon.... well maybe....
..... NEWS FLASH ..... NEWS FLASH ..... November 2009 The Engine is now back in the car and has been turning over... we now are waiting for the ignition leads & then some kind of exhaust otherwise we will have some very unhappy neighbours... Previously..... Finally we have had the engine balanced and the crank checked by Pete Knight (www.knightracingservices.co.uk). Steve has been out in the shed building and things are really begining to move forward... keep watching for more updates as avaliable. We have and are planning on making a few changes from the original set up - including changing the tunnel ram and carb set up.... The heads are away being machined as we speak and steve is currently beating his way through the garage to find the car...
The heads are now back from a
local machine shop and have now been taken apart recleaned and rebuilt
and are now on the engine. We have a lovely race dominator and a spare sat in the shed and currently waiting to collect the new manifold.
We are currentl scrapping together somemore pennies to place an order for a few of the final build things required from the states and then we should be almost there. Then the work will continue on the car, gearbox & axle...
We have one decision to make either change the wheels as the back spacing is not quite right or change the axle.... we are hoping we can sort the wheels out as this is the cheapest option for us... We are also on the look out for a pair of 31 14 15
The car as it was when Ron owned
it...
This is what the car looked like
when Steve bought it from Ron Haslett. Ron purchased this car from a good
friend Mike Watson to finish a season after having an incident with a
roundabout in his Mk3 Cortina Saloon.
The car was purchased without an
engine. The engine in the pictures is a 6V-71 Blown Small Block Chevy which was
on loan to Ron from another good friend of ours Andy Smith. Steve was
involved in the running of the car for Ron and it ran a best of 12.40@115
(Pretty sure these are right, Ron??) However the car less motor was
a great place for us to start.
These pictures are of engine build take 1....
Looking considerabley different now
though and growing more and more all the time...
